Mission

The New Zealand Cadet Forces have three aims:

»To provide challenging and disciplined training activities which will be an advantage in both the Services and civilian pursuits.

»To foster the spirit of adventure and teamwork and develop those qualities of mind and body which go to making good citizens and leaders

»To promote an awareness and appreciation of the Services and the role they play in the community.

The objective of the Sea Cadet Corps builds in every cadet a sense of patriotism, courage, self-reliance and confidence; those qualitites which will mould good moral character and citizenship.

It also aims to raise the prestige of a naval career. A proportion of cadets join the RNZN or other Armed Forces when they leave Sea Cadets, but it is emphasized that the choice of such a career is by no means compulsory.
